The purpose of this website is to provide information about pending litigation involving residents exposed to indoor mold who lived in housing units owned and/or operated by the Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) from 1998 to August 29, 2005. A lawsuit was filed in 2001 and has been ongoing since then. Some residents of HANO have already filed claims, but others have not.

To be eligible to submit a claim in this lawsuit, you must have lived in a unit owned and/or operated by the Housing Authority of New Orleans as a legal tenant and/or leaseholder (i.e. with a lease at the time) within the time period of 1998 to August 29, 2005.

Within this website, you will find a claim form entitled “Notice of Intent to Make a Claim” which must be filled out and submitted if you wish to make a claim. The Notice of Intent to Make a Claim form may be found by going to the Forms page of this website. Please also visit the Deadlines page for information regarding any applicable deadlines.

Note that if you do not wish to participate in the class action, you may opt-out or be excluded from it. If you wish to opt-out, please visit the Forms page of this website for applicable Request for Exclusion forms.

THIS IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT

Since this is a class action case, individuals who decide to participate need not file individual lawsuits, as those persons who file claims in this class action case will be covered by it. If you do not wish to participate in this class action lawsuit, you are free to opt-out, and you may decide to file an individual lawsuit, or not, as you see fit. If you intend to opt-out of this class action lawsuit, please review your status to assure that the time period within which to file an individual lawsuit for your claims has not passed.
